How is it a tumor can be so invasive?

I just lost my Beautiful son from something so evil I would like to understand how that happened. He's been a vegaterian for many years, was on this strict PH diet for months and still he wasted away in just a few months. I would like to understand how it is that something that destructive can grow so fast? What was feeding these tumors? For every action, there's a reaction! That, why?
