Amber, Generally I have read that most raw doctors recommend at least 80% raw fruits/veggies for optimal balance. The focus is on maintaining an alkaline pH balance in the body as much as possible. As far as 'tips' for new raw food lifestyles...I usually recommend for people to figure out what they LOVE the most. Strawberries, grapes, blueberries, tomatoes, etc. Always have an abundance of that (or those) item(s) available in case of a 'craving emergency'. Anyone that can eat a huge bowl of grapes and still want a cheeseburger has more issues than changing their nutritional intake can provide in most cases. The rest of the time when they are not 'craving' they should make every effort to explore the veggie aisle and push themselves to try things they would never have tried before. Raw asparagus is great to snack on, as are avocados. Raw almond butter is another great 'craving buster'. Two teaspoons of that and you feel like you ate a five course meal. : ) Good luck with the blog. I've been 100% raw since May of last year (and was about 75% raw before then). I feel great and have more energy than ever before (I also stopped coffee...only drink water now). My blood pressure dropped from 190/90 to 120/70 just from changing my eating habits. It is definitely the BEST thing anyone can do for themselves.
