Best vitamins to take during a sugar detox?? Carbs have taken over my diet and I feel almost like an addict when it comes to them. I am trying to cut refined sugars from my diet. I am taking a multi-vitamin, fish oil, and fiber supplement. What else can I take that will help me with the cravings and will boost my metabolism??? I feel tired and pretty worthless without my sugar.

Thanks!! :)

Glad to hear you're getting off sugar! I've been sugar-free for over a year now and have never felt better!

I have some "bad"" news, thought...If you want to get off sugar, you have to also get off grains. Grains cause an excessive rise in blood sugar levels and insulin levels and promote weight gain (amongst other things. Read http://www.marksdailyapple.com/why-grains-are-unhealthy/). So, unless you quit them as well you will still crave sugar like an addict.

When you quit sugar, it's not about adding vitamins to detox. You need to take out all the junk food and eat whole, organic, foods.

Check out http://www.marksdailyapple.com I thought I'd never stop eating wheat and sugar, but now I can't imagine going back.

Thanks! I will check it out. My doc suggested I stay away from grains all together because I don't like whole wheat, oats,  or grainy grains (if that makes sense). I am a refined flour and sugar girl, however after watching Food Matters and Food Inc I am trying to get away from processed anything.

When there is an imbalance in the diet sometime you will crave sugar, For example : if you have a little amount or an excesive amount of protein in your diet, the body is going to look for a balance and the sign is craving sugar. I suggest you to pay attention to the amount of protein that you are eating. I dont think you need to get rid of all  the grains because the body needs carbs ( the good quality) such as quinoa, brown rice, amaranth, barley, oats....If you are not eatig carbs you will crave sugar. Try to drink enough water when you are having the sugar craving and choose foods with low glycemic index. If you leave large gaps between meals your sugar levels in the blood are going to drop and of course you will feel tired and crave sugar. Some of the symptoms of detoxing are tiredness, irritability, headaches, cold symptoms, means that your getting rid of the toxins ! Try to eat whole , organic food. All processed foods even if they are not sweet they have sugar! Hope this helps!
