Our Food Matters

Leading The Natural Health Revolution

Here is a brief description of myself and current situation to enable whoever responds to give the best possible advice, capish? Cool.

First off, I'm a twenty-four year old engineering student and up until three years ago I was living a healthy lifestyle. I was a competitive distance runner then and being a distance runner demands eating right; and I did. My diet consisted of mainly fruits and vegetables supplemented by vitamins. Life was good. My body felt great, my mind was firing on all cylinders, and I was happy with the direction my life was headed (Oh, and I'm a little guy, 5'7" and 130 lbs). Then just after I graduated high school I blew my back out and completely shattered my L5 vertebra. The doctor said I needed surgery. So, I went to another doctor and he said the same thing. So for the next two years I exhausted every possible option and met with some of the best specialists in the country; all the while the pain was getting worse and they all said the same thing the first doctor had said. I didn't have many options at this point and opted for surgery. I was young, athletic, full of confidence and figured I would get through it, recover well, and be running again within a year (the doctors agreed with me saying I would recover well and the pain would be significantly less). I was twenty years old at the time and ohhh...how wrong I was.

I probably would have recovered well had the doctor not messed up. From what my new doctors tell me something in the way the fusion was done wasn't done properly. Essentially, the surgery made my back problem worse. I'm not blaming anyone, just stating the facts. So here I am a little over three years later living on disability while going to school and having to take oxycontin twice a day just so I can get through my classes and keep the pain at bay. It is what it is though right?

In July I'll be moving to the higher altitudes of northern California since on my recent visit in February I noticed I was hurting significantly less, but I want to get back to the healthy lifestyle I was living before all this happened and before I move. I'm not miserable in my life right now. I'm actually pretty happy, but I feel bogged down and dirty from the medicine I have to take. I don't really have much energy anymore although I don't eat junk. I've seen the documentary and bought the ebook that accompanies it. A friend and I are planning on doing the detox portion of it this coming week. What I want to know is will this detox plan help me given the circumstances you, the reader and possible advice giver, now know? Will it really help my kidneys and liver pass the poisons? I'll still have to take my medication, but I'm hoping this detox will be my first step to fighting back against my ailment. Since I will have to continue to take medicine I plan on doing this detox more than once; fully committing myself to this lifestyle again. My goal is to get my body back to the state in which my Creator intended it to be so that if there's a chance that I can come off these ridiculous medications then my body is in optimal condition to fight chronic pain. Following the detox I plan on eating the way the book says to as well. What advice do y'all have to give me? Do I need to supplement the detox with anything to help? I'm open to any and all advice as long as your positive and knowledgable.

Thank you so much,

-Michael

Hi Michael,

Lovely to connect with you - I'm sorry to hear that you aren't feeling as clean and vibrant as you would like to be!

The Detox and Rejuvenation Guide outlines a gentle cleanse which is great to re-set your body after periods where you may have not been as kind to it or get the ball rolling for weightloss.

It is not designed for any specific type of detoxing - i.e. pharmaceuticals and heavy metals - as it does not (and cannot for legal reasons) include any specific herbs or supplements required for these different types of things.

We strongly suggest working with a natural healthcare professional who specializes in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine that can outline a specific, measurable and safe detox program perfect for you.  Please use our practitioner directory guide (http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp/Practitioner%20Directory).

Hope this helps out!
