Our Food Matters

Leading The Natural Health Revolution

Hello Everyone,

First, thank you in advance for reading this. I have watched the Food Matters movie and I am so amazed. Not shocked at all because it seems like total common sense...although not so common. It's a great shame but I am happy to see someone is doing something about it.

I am on a mission to change my diet/lifestyle but most of all I am trying to dramatically change my Mom's health. I am 26 years old and I have been looking out for her since I was a kid. She has Lupus and with it anti-phospholipid syndrome which makes her prone to blood clots. She has had 3 pulmonary embolisms and because of this she is on Warfarin blood thinner for life. The risk of her having a blood clot is just way to high for her not to be on this drug.

With that said, people that are on blood thinners must avoid Vitamin K as it can alter the drug’s effects leading to inefficiency or massive bleeding. The problem that I find with this is that many of the foods that offer so many nutrients that can help my mom's health problems contain high levels of Vitamin K.

I am overwhelmed by all of the great information of the Detox and Rejuvenation guide and just don't know where to start with my Mom because of this Vitamin K issue. Even before I watched Food Matters I knew that good nutrition would be of immense value to my mom. Her energy levels are awful, she suffers from depression, digestive issues, sleeping problems, fatigue...the list goes on. She is also hypertensive and overweight.

I would greatly appreciate if any of you have any insight, recommendations, or have personally experienced having to take blood thinners and still maintain a healthy and nutritious diet. Most people say: Ask your Doctor. But that is the problem, a typical Doctor here in the US would just say avoid Greens...uh, forgetting the many benefits and healing powers of these greens. They don't give me any good alternatives or suggestions.

Have a great day!

Dree, I will be watching this thread closely - my father is on warfarin, a horrible yet necessary evil. So difficult to find anything in food or vitamins that he can safely have. Lets hope someone can offer us some advice here! ox
