Our Food Matters

Leading The Natural Health Revolution

Hey everyone!

I started the Food Matters Detox Plan today and I have to say... I'm not sure I can keep on it. My wife are vegetarians and we eat organic only, so I'm not some fast food junkie... But Wheatgrass has got to be the worst tasting thing I have every tried... :(

Can anyone give me pointers to make this more enjoyable? I'm really struggling...

Thank you in advance!!

Jon

I know how hard it must be to do a detox if the ingredients you are given to work with taste awful, however everyone's tastebuds are different and believe it or not there are people out there that really enjoy wheat grass and have it each day as a cleansing tonic. You could try diluting it with lots of water or adding some fresh apple juice or you could have it as a shot and chase it with a slice of orange to get rid of the taste in your mouth. Some people say that over time you actually get used to the taste of wheatgrass and as your body becomes alkaline you actually start to enjoy the taste of it. If it really bothers you that much you could just take it out of the detox and have a juice of your choice instead, the idea of the detox is that you give your body time to focus on cleansing rather than digesting. All the best and let me know how you go...
Yeah it can definitely take some getting used to. It's just so bitter and earthy tasting, I know. Honestly, it's never going to taste like a glass of lemonade but there are ways to improve the taste. Whenever I press the grass I always throw some apples in after it and then mix some honey in before chugging. It's not amazing but it's not horrible. Frankly I think the taste has sort of grown on me though. Just image you're a goat and it's delicious! Kidding but good luck and hang in there.

What is their detox plan like? Sorry I may be a tad late on this discussion.

Here is the link if you would like to check it out Casey!!  http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp_275913/Detox_and_Rejuvenation_Gui...

I recommend printing out the detox after you purchase it because there are lots of good recipes in it as well, especially for raw food. For me it was easier to have a hard copy to refer back to it. Hope you find it useful!!

A colonic with wheat grass as an additive at the end (no pun intended). Green smoothies are really good and you can add a green powder supplement. I use spinach or kale, banana (frozen, it cuts the green taste and being frozen makes it creamier) plus another fruit of my choice like organic strawberries.....and add water. I also add 2 tbsp. ground flax, which adds as a absorber of toxins and a great bulking agent.

Sorry this post is so late. You might not need this anymore.

Casey's reply I really like. WIll try the kale, banana, blueberries maybe and water. I have a ton of ground flax that I just can't use up. This will help.  Just getting started blogging and just joined so sorry I am responding to an older post! But so glad I read it.

i cant help on that one. I agree with the wheatgrass, but i would guess if your committed to eating organic and being vegetarian because its good for you , i believe you have what it takes to down the wheat grass : ) ... what i did want to know thou - where do you find the detox plan ?

cheers, leah b

Leah, here's the link to purchase their ebook. http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp_275913/Detox_and_Rejuvenation_Gui...

Eating organic and vegetarian does not prepare oneself for wheatgrass, in my opinion. Gag, yuck.......I drink it because it saved my life going through cancer treatments and I don't want to return to disease, in fact I want to thrive. Beyond being being vegetarian, I think you might like the documentary Forks Over Knives and most likely with the information there you might reconsider vegetarian to vegan. Dairy, in particularly casein feeds tumor growth in the liver of animal subjects.

I beleive he can down the wheatgrass too.
