Our Food Matters

Leading The Natural Health Revolution

Anyone have experience with food and Crohns.  In an active flair since Dec and hosptialized 7x.  No doctors have been able to help me identify the right nutrition.  They say eat low residue diet.  No fresh veggies or fruit to avoid bulk and blockage.  I only eat veggies, fruit, pasta, potatoes, some fish/shrimp and sometime canned tuna and chicken.  I don't eat red meat and never have.  I am making a smoothly out of Boost, ice and a banana.  Any share experiences would be a great help.  15 more days of prednisone.

Hi Sheree,

Welcome to Our Food Matters Community - we hope you love it as much as well do!
Thanks so much for your enquiry, I’m so glad you felt comfortable enough to ask us this question.

Unfortunately as movie producers and not health practitioners legally we are unable to offer any specific health advise, nor can we endorse any specific products. We are here to help guide you in the direction of those who can offer you these things and offer you a support system for healing yourself.

We have a huge wealth of free information on our website, it can be a little overwhelming to know where to start, but I’d like to suggest a few places.

Firstly we suggest working with a natural healthcare professional or naturopath who specialises in Nutritional and Environmental Medicine.  Please use our practitioner directory guide (http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp/Practitioner%20Directory) or  you can search for a practitioner who specialises in Orthomolecular medicine here (http://orthomolecular.org/resources/pract.shtml#us).

Secondly - have you seen Food Matters? This talks about a whole heap of healing techniques like increasing your raw food intake, avoiding processed foods, eating organic. You can watch it online here: http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp/View%20Film%20Online

We don't believe there is a one size fits all approach to the 'perfect diet' - every body is unique and needs to eat accordingly. Listen to your body and what makes it feel good.

Having said that I’d like to kindly suggest a few other things you might not have considered:
  • Eliminate processed foods - our bodies don’t know what to do with them
  • Get allergy tested and eliminate high allergen / adrenal stressing foods you are sensitive to - wheat, dairy, caffeine, processed sugar
  • Switch to organic fruit, vegetables and animal products
  • Eat only whole foods - nothing processed
  • Eat foods suited to your metabolic typing - are you a protein, carb or mixed type?
  • Make up at least 51% of each meal from raw foods (fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds)
  • Drink more water (preferably filtered water) and make water the first thing you put in your body each day - 1-2 litres before breakfast is great to cleanse your system
  • Start juicing and/or blending vegetables (greens and others - carrots, etc)
  • Start taking a good multivitamin - preferably a whole food multi vitamin
  • Find a naturopath or holistic health practitioner in your area and book in for some live blood analysis to get a clear picture of where your health is at, what you need to add in or tweak
  • Look into colon cleansing
  • Find an exercise (or a few) you enjoy and do it daily - yoga, walking, jogging, sports, resistance training, rebounding, swimming, surfing - just get moving
  • Read the Detox & Rejuvenation Guide - http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp/Detox_and_Rejuvenation_Guide
  • Read through the 'Take Action' sections on our website - especially the Detox & Rejuvenation and the Optimum Health sections - http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp/Take%20Action
  • Check out the articles in our Latest News section - http://www.foodmatters.tv/_webapp/Newsletter%20Archive

Hi Sheree,

I just joined and read your post. I have written papers and done a lot with food and Crohns. When were you first diagnosed with Chohns?
