Leading The Natural Health Revolution
Hello,
I live near Oak Lawn, IL and there are mostly only conventional grocery stores around. I'm having a hard time finding a good quality organic food store that is within a reasonable distance. Help me someone! My family and I are ready for a change, however we are feeling stuck...
Thanks,
Sonia

The best place on the southwest side, including Oak Lawn is Southtown Health Foods.
2100 W 95th Street Chicago,IL 60643 773-233-1856.
Stop in and meet Katie the owner and tell her Jerry and Mary sent you. (Formally of Evergreen Park)
There is also this store;
Heritage Health Foods
4111 183rd Street
Country Club Hls, IL 60478-5308

Permalink Reply by L R on August 25, 2011 at 1:55am Unfortunately, the south side of the Chicagoland area still doesn't have easily accessible grocery stores with many organic options. WholeFoods is a great option and the closest one to OakLawn is in Hinsdale:
500 E. Ogden Ave.
Hinsdale, IL 60521 USA
Stanley's Fruit & Vegetables is not close to OakLawn but they have a great selection of organic produce:
1558 N Elston Ave
(between Le Moyne St & North Ave)
Chicago, IL 60622
Some Jewel and Dominick's supermarkets are starting to offer some organic produce so it's best to shop around.
Hope this helps.

There is a Trader Joe's opposite Orland Mall. You should be able to get a decent amount of organic stuff there.
Permalink Reply by HealthMinded on November 9, 2011 at 11:49pm We only moved to IL a year ago and so disappointed in the lack of organic or natural health food stores around here. We only have one near us, Sunrise, and thankful they are there, but it's extremely small and limited.
We have found that our Meijers store has the best selection of organic products and produce around this area. They have a pretty big selection of their own organic products which has been a Godsend. Definitely check to see if you have a Meijers near you. We buy, pastas, almond milk, butter, produce, canned and frozen products all organic Meijer brand.
I find it odd that we have a Whole Foods warehouse near us, but no Whole Foods stores.......they are expensive, but they have the best selection also. Sure hope they bring stores in our area. As it is, we'd have to drive 30-45 miles to the closest one. Not doing that. :(
